Breitling Navitimer Cosmonaute
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Carpenter’s historic flight, Breitling is releasing the Navitimer Cosmonaute — a faithful reproduction of the watch that helped make aeronautical history. At the heart of the 43mm stainless steel case beats Breitling’s 39 jewel, COSC-certified Caliber 02 hand-wound movement, at 28,800 vibrations per hour. In addition to the chronometer itself, the watch contains two other essential pilot instruments: a circular slide rule integrated into the bi-directional rotating bezel, and (faithful to the vintage 1952 versions) a Celsius/Fahrenheit conversion scale etched into the caseback. Production of the Navitimer Cosmonaute will be limited to 1,962 pieces.

Facebook Camera VS Instagram Camera
Doesn't Facebook own Instagram now anyway? Facebook Camera has just barely been announced, but that didn’t stop Gizmodo from pitting the new application against another similar app: Instagram. The two apps share many similarities, but there’s also some differences such as the amount of filters, which favors Instagram. Other key points that Gizmodo points out are the fact that Instagram shows you photos of people you actually follow, while Camera shows you photos from ALL of your friends on Facebook with no way of filtering. Anyway, read the full article here.

SEALAB Rolex 5512 Submariner
Owned by veteran Navy man Bob Barth who was a member of the SEALAB program – the Navy’s first foray into saturation diving – in which “aquanauts” lived in a pressurized habitat underwater for days and weeks on end, the watch has endured a lifetime of significant dives. Barth bought his 5512 Submariner in 1964, just prior to the first SEALAB expedition which took place off the coast of Bermuda at a depth of 192 feet. The only member of SEALAB to contribute to all three stages of the program, Barth and his trusty watch are truly a national treasure. The 1964 5512 Rolex Submariner is slated for auction at a starting price of $150,000 USD.

Nick Diamond...
Nick Tershay, or better known as Nick Diamond, created a Californian skatewear line, Diamond Supply Co., back in 1998 after selling skateboarding gears at the back door of Eric Koston and Guy Mariano’s Fourstar label. Immersing himself in a passion for delivering products that fused street couture and skateboarding sensibilities, Nick knew success would always be in reach as long as the originality remained. Now portraying a lifestyle that embodies constantly doing exactly what you love, the man behind creating the Tiffany Dunk SB offers collection after collection behind the Diamond Supply Co. philosophy of producing limited number pieces making every garment as rare as a diamond. In our latest Essentials installment, Nick Diamond displays an array of personal must-haves, be it traveling around the world promoting his brand or locked in the lab cooking up pure streetwear. As you can see, he doesn’t just talk about some self-empowering lifestyle, he lives it, literally sporting his label from head to toe. What is also evident is his love to create clothes keeping a Pantone book and measuring tape close by as well as showcasing an affinity for fine jewelry, classic cars and what else — skateboarding.

Cartier: “JUSTE UN CLOU”
Juste un clou… Just a nail.” The original nail bracelet (recently shown in Pharrell Williams’ Essentials) was designed exclusively for Cartier back in the 1970s during the glory days of Studio 54 by Aldo Chipuro. Along with a few other pieces in the precious metal ‘nail’ collection, the bracelet is seeing a classic reissue for the modern, albeit slightly rebellious man. The concept is quite simple: each bracelet is bent from a singular white or yellow gold nail. That’s it. Exceptionally simple indeed, but on a level of luxury that only Cartier could do justice. If you’d like one, very select Cartier boutiques are expected to be carrying them, but the bracelet will set you back around $7,500 USD.

Stussy / Converse Elm and Sea Star Hanni El Khatib
In joining forces on their collaborative project, Stussy and Converse looked to certain individuals for inspiration, whose spirit and drive personified the core principles of both brands. For the Stussy x Converse Summer 2012 collection — made up of the Sea Star and Elm sneakers — the brands looked to musician Hanni El Khatib. Currently living in L.A. and signed to the Innovative Leisure record label, Hanni grew up skateboarding in San Francisco, eventually signing on with HUF as creative director. He’s since moved on, following his dream to become a fulltime musician. (Check out a sampling of Hanni’s brand of hard-driving music, used in a 2011 Converse promo clip, here.) Stussy and Converse salute Hanni’s creative passion. The co-branded Sea Star and Elm are available now at Stussy chapters and online.
